Our story
Built on experience.
Grounded in care.
A South Wellington local through and through, Tim Henderson’s passion for building started early, at just ten years old, helping on his parents’ house. By sixteen, he was already an apprentice, setting the foundation for what has become more than two decades of hands-on experience in the building trade.
With 24 years in the industry, Tim has built a reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving. His background spans far beyond construction, from firefighting and maritime work to aviation, each chapter adding depth to his leadership, discipline, and practical know-how on site.
After hanging up his pilot’s hat in Darwin and returning home to Wellington in 2018 to start a family, Tim founded RG Carpentry with a clear vision: to offer homeowners a reliable, high-quality building service grounded in clear communication, technical skill, and long-term value.
Today, with the support of trusted industry professionals, Tim has expanded his work into two complementary companies, providing complete support from design and build through to property maintenance and repair. Known for tackling challenging and architecturally unique projects, he approaches every job with methodical precision and a deep respect for craftsmanship.
Whether navigating complex regulations or refining the smallest detail, Tim brings the same focus and curiosity that has guided him since childhood, building and maintaining homes that stand the test of time.
The finer details
Small details.
A big difference.
We love to work on the finer details of our projects, here we’ve used multiple timber species to create a cool visual effect on a hand crafted model yacht stand.

Tim and his team were completely professional from start to finish. Great communication and our kitchen renovation was completed to a very high quality and on time. I will certainly be using RG carpentry again if we undertake further renovations.
Lisa DugganVERY happy with Tim and his crew's quality of work, price and communication. The time frames were tight with the painters, but Tim delivered on time and in budget. We wouldn't hesitate in using Tim and the team again. Dave 🙂
David HoskingI've been using Tim's building expertise for years and most recently completed a complex renovation job which had many moving aspects. Tim would make the time and effort to ensure I always knew what was happening and made communication very timely and project management seem effortless. Highly recommend 🙂

AMRAll dealings with Tim and the team at RG Carpentry have been outstanding, a great display of professionalism and high quality craftsmanship. If anyone is looking for a company to carry out work at their home, I couldn’t recommend RG Carpentry enough!
Bayley TheodoreI have met Tim and communicated with him several times about prospective work. He is approachable and friendly in person and his communication is very responsive, clear and professional. From what I have experienced with him myself, and with the benefit of seeing a deck he built for a neighbour, I have recommended him to family. All the best Tim.
Michael de StacpooleVery good to deal with!!
Hayden DavisI highly recommend Tim ; He stepped in at relatively short notice to fix a rotten barge board discovered by my painters. It was a tricky job and it was accomplished quickly and very efficiently. Tim's communication and attention to details are exemplary . His costing is reasonable.
